Some of you out there won't be terribly interested in this, but some of you are nerds: I've decided to post a document that specifies what makes Oasis Madrid tick. Think of it as our DNA, the stuff you can't see but you know is there--the stuff that makes us look like we do.
On second thought, I take back my initial comment that this packet is merely for "nerds". In fact, some time ago I sent this to someone who wanted to know more about our church and she wrote back with the reply that, not only did she enjoy reading it but that it "generated a lot of conversation" with her group of friends. Then again, that particular person happens to be a mathematician, so that's not saying much I guess...(Smile)
For those of you who have supported us in our work here, you'll be happy to read this since it gives you an in-depth picture as to what we're about. Please, as you read this, don't think we're heretics. We still love Jesus. And we still baptize people and take the Lord's Supper like every other Christian. (Smile)
For those of you who have been a part of Oasis in the past, you'll enjoy reading this as it will give you a language to describe some things you may have appreciated while here (and, perhaps, some things that annoyed you, too!).
For those of you who have no idea who we are...well,uh...I can't think of any earthly reason why you'd like to read this, but do it anyway, okay?!
For all of you: if you want to be really nerdy, you could use this packet as a catalyst to have some discussion with a friend or a small group of friends. Wrestle with the ideas. How do they stretch you? How would it look for you to implement some of the ideas in your life or in your community?
