T(r)oy's Marbles

the soul unto itself (683)

The Soul unto itself (683)
by Emily Dickinson

The Soul unto itself
Is an imperial friend --
Or the most agonizing Spy --
An Enemy -- could send --

Secure against its own --
No treason it can fear --
Itself -- its Sovereign -- of itself
The Soul should stand in Awe --

Greetings, Livia. Before I voice my thoughts on your question, I would be interested in what you think about the poem yourself.

Also, could you introduce yourself a bit? I'm quite certain we've not met before, so a brief description might be helpful in dialoguing.

Cheers,
Troy
