I wanted to highlight a new site that I "ran across" the other day because of a comment left on t(r)oymarbles a while ago. It's called "Missionary-Blogs.com".

Here's a teaser of what's on the site, taken from its homepage:

"Welcome to the all new Missionary Blogs! This is the place to find Christian missionary blogs from all over the world. See what God is doing first-hand, as these missionaries share their hearts.

...As more and more missionaries get involved, this site will grow. And you will be able to get a first hand glimpse into the lives of people that you haven't met. You'll learn about cultures you've never experienced. You'll learn about the joys and sorrows that are part of the battle for the Truth.

"What can I expect to see at Missionary Blogs?
As time goes by, I hope to feature various blogs so you can learn more about the missionary behind them. You'll be able to find bloggers in a country that interests you. You'll be able to learn how to stay up to date with the latest missions news. And you'll be able to connect to what a Christian missionary is, and what they do. If you're a missionary, you'll be able to learn more about blogging yourself. And who knows? Maybe some of you will be inspired to be a part of missions in a new way."

Missionary-Blogs.com features a "Blog Watch" section. Here, the site editor selects interesting entries from the more than 200 blogs he "watches". In fact, last week he featured this entry (written on Brian Newman's blog entitled "Newmans Surfacing")

In addition to the "Blog Watch" page, Missionary-Blogs.com has entries included on the Home Page that direct readers to 12 "randomly selected" sites of interest. Last week, this entry (written by Mary DeMuth on her relevantgirl blog) appeared.

Today's entries include this on The Journey(the blog of Rogier and Sophie Bos).

Not surprisingly, the editor (Jim Cottrill)is a blogger himself. On his blog "Finding Direction" he writes these thought-provoking words:

"When we leave behind our comfortable ideas of what spirituality is, and take the risk to follow Christ in this world (as all believers must do), that’s when the real challenge and adventure begins. We leave behind our comparisons with others, the accomplishments of others, and even our own accomplishments and spirituality, and we look to Jesus and begin to walk in His footsteps. We don’t know where He will lead, or what He will ask of us. We just trust Him. And that is discipleship."

If you are a missionary and have a blog, you might consider paying Missionary-Blogs.com a visit and registering your blog there.

Cheers,
Troy

links | emergent churches

There is a fresh wind blowing through the church these days. Church leaders and theologians are banding together to help contextualize the Christian faith for the emerging postmodern era. The movement to rethink faith in this light has been dubbed "Emergent". While the label "emergent" is somewhat slippery, there are some unique features of what makes a church "emergent". Click here for links to the wide diversity of churches in North America and Europe that could, in some sense, be classified as "emergent".
