what lights my fire
You might like to know that for me there is no higher point in any day than when I hear my son and daughter laugh loud and strong at a joke I’ve just told. (For that matter, I also like it when my wife laughs at my jokes, since that is quite a rare occurrence!) On the subject of my wife, there are a thousand things about her that I love: her smile, her eyes, her voice, her heart and soul; these are just a few things.

You should also know that the first CDs I ever bought were a soundtrack of the musical “Cats”, and a 4-CD set of classical music by Vivaldi. My favorite musical, however, is “Les Miserables.”

Some of my favorite films include “Seabiscuit,” “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead,” “What About Bob,” “Groundhog Day,” “The Madness of King George,” “Searching for Bobby Fischer,” “Waiting for Guffman,” and “Schindler’s List.”

Here are some good books I’d recommend you read: “Till We Have Faces” by C.S. Lewis, “My Name is Asher Lev” by Chaim Potok, “In The Name of Jesus” by Henri Nouwen and “If You Want to Write” by Brenda Ueland.

Here are some good plays to read or see if you have the chance: “Handy Dandy” by William Gibson, “Salt-Water Moon” by David French, and “Spring Dance” by Horton Foote.

Some of my favorite bands lately include: Howie Day, Switchfoot, Lifehouse, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, U2, Dave Matthews, 3 Doors Down, Sixpence None the Richer, and David Gray.

On the note of what lights my fire I would also like to mention…

where we live and what we do
We have been living in Spain since May 1998 (first in Barcelona and now in Madrid). In Barcelona, we were on staff with a church called The International Church of Barcelona. In Madrid, I led a team of people for Christian Associates International to establish a church called Mountainview, which we have now left to start a new church in downtown Madrid called Oasis Madrid. This is, to say the least, an exciting adventure.
